Mozart and the Whale: “Based on a true story, this romantic drama follows the love affair of two people with Asperger’s Syndrome — a subtle form of autism with a side of savant. Donald (Josh Hartnett ), an emotionally dysfunctional mathematical genius, leads a support group for those with the syndrome. When an attractive music and art genius (Radha Mitchell) joins the group, Donald’s falls for her, but their unique natures make for a challenging relationship.”
Mom recommended this one. I found it fascinating. I thought Josh’s portrayal was more convincing, but over the picture Radha’s grew on me. She’s one of my favorite actresses (esp. since High Art). I listened to some of the director’s commentary. I was intrigued by his thoughts on how people with Asperger’s just make it more obvious that we all live in our own worlds, talking mainly to ourselves… how very difficult true intimacy with others is.

I heart Radha Mitchell. I will have to see this movie.
Guess what – there’s another Radha Mitchell DVD I actually bought recently I liked it so much called Everything Put Together. Try that one too. Glad you liked M & the W.
